If I could give 0 stars I would. This company has done nothing but lie and give me the run around! The ONLY good thing was the guy who installed it. He was SUPER nice and helpful!
I made the mistake of not thoroughly inspecting the door before paying because by the time I could look, they already had the person on the phone for the final payment.
Like 15 min after the guy left I realized there was a crack on the glass and scratches all over my door… not what I expected for over $4k.
When we agreed to use the company we were told 8-10 weeks because we have a VERY special order door. That was no problem. At week 12 I finally called and Pam said “it’s special order, they shouldn’t have told you 8-10weeks”. That’s all well and good, but they had and I had had NO contact to the contrary. So I said “had we been informed it would take longer we would have been fine, but there was no communication.” She just continue to argue with me and told me “two more weeks”.
At week 14 I called again and got the SAME run around and rude attitude from Pam. I did go kind of Karen, but we were now 4-6 weeks past the date. At one point I hung up because she was being SO hard to work with, but called back and apologized and was told she would get us a discount for the trouble, but it would be ANOTHER 2 weeks.
About a week later we did get the call to schedule and were so excited we didn’t think to ask about the discount. The man who did the installation showed up on time and was super nice! While he was installing, I pointed out what appeared to be a scratch. He assured me it was just from the plastic and he’d be able to clean it off.
When he was done I was rushed to pay and didn’t get to do a thorough inspection. About 15 min after he left I called Pam and informed her that there was a Nick in the glass and scratches all over. On an over $4k door that had been up for less than 15min, I expected it to be perfect.
She asked for pictures to be emailed as a reply to an email she had sent me, which I informed I hadn’t received. She provided me an email, so I sent the pics. The next day she emails me what she was supposed to send the day before and says I didn’t open it so it must have been in my junk. When I informed her that I never got it and asked about someone contacting us about the door, she said she made a mistake with my email address and Bob from service would call.
Here it is now a week later and NO ONE has contacted us. When I called today, Pam rudely said “I told the owners, he will contact you”. I said “right but I’m calling because you said that a week ago and still no one has contacted us”. To which she said “everyone is gone for the day, I’ll bring it to his attention first thing in the morning”.
So now this company lied about how long it would take, gave us the run around, didn’t give us the discount they said they would, lied about who was informed, and is giving us the run around on getting it corrected.
AVOID THEM! I’m doing everything, since installation, in emails as well because I have a damaged $4k door that the company appears unwilling to do anything about.
Love my interior and exterior door couldn't pick out anything better. They looked so good the house look even more and more richer. Thank you for all the work that you have done defense are still doors and windows. Also the young man that came by and did the job fantastic young men. Knows exactly what hes doing very pleasant. Also thank you so much a guy continued the bless you and your workers. I have read other people remarks about their doors being rested out after one year. I hope you still Honor the lifetime warranty that you talk to me about. If not please give me a call that's Explaining in more details.
On March 7, 2023 I made a down payment of 300 for a window. Bill came to my property twice prior to installation. Today April 11,2023 Steve came without the proper tools to install my window. I told him to leave. I asked if he could come back later. He said he had his tools inside another truck. If it was possible to come Thursday. I told him no. Update Steve came back and installed my window. I called and spoke to Angie and Pam. They contact the installer. He was able to complete the work today. I’m pleased with the owner from Defender Steel Door. We spoke and we both agree that sometimes things happened. Thank you sir for showing up and having a respectful conversation.
I purchased 2 doors early spring of 2022 the cost $5,000 and in less than a year these doors are starting to rust in several places. I called customer service and was told to lightly sand paper the door and paint the area. This is totally unacceptable After my initial contact, A represinetive by the name of Pam later called and asked me to provide pictures. I sent immediately to her, It's been a week I have not heard anything from Pam since, I sent follow up emails and phone calls no reply. The previous doors I purchase from Sears 25yrs ago the cost no where near they did not begin to rust till year 20 this company does not stand by there product. To avoid an unpleasant experience, Save yourself TIME and MONEY shop somewhere else.
My experience with Defender was great! I initially spoke with Pam to schedule my consultation. Very easy and convenient. Neil came to do the consultation. Excellent! We
went over the various options and the process of ordering the entry door. As I did my research with other companies Neil kept in touch and was open to any new questions I had. Once I decided to order the entry door with Defender, Neil was patient with me when I changed the style of the door from the consultation. Geoff came and installed the door. Very nice and did a great job. I will definitely use and recommend Defender in the future. Thank you!
